Atoms Collide #16 Notes
Why Atoms Collide?
We had a discussion about what something like Atoms Collide means to people, and these words came up:
Warding off disconnect
The undefined is attractive
Exploring
Fluidity
Ability to just sit and listen to other humans
Supporting and recognising connections
To be able to choose whether to speak or be silent
An introvert's support meetup
Things people shared
90 Point walks and stories about walking around Brighton
Mapping interesting walks and points of interest between Lewes and Brighton
Stories about sound, training your ears, sound walks, inspired by Sonic Wonderland by Trevor Cox
Folk Horror Revival and Psychogeography
Book parties
Believing is Seeing and other Errol Morris things
A poem conjured in the shower this morning
Hiking the Coast to Coast
A video in which business coaches attempt to explain what they do
David Graeber on bullshit jobs
The Lyke Wake Walk and the importance of slowing down
During the last 30 minutes of Atoms Collide we were joined by 2 buddhists, Eric and Paul. The cafe was full and they had no-where else to sit. This is the best example of why Atoms Collide happens, to meet people like this, who, along with everyone else that came, offered something valuable to the morning that couldn't be measured in numbers, but could certainly be felt in the heart.
The next and final one of the year is on the 25th of November. More info here.
