I finally got hold of a copy of Protect and survive after about 20 years of wanting one.  I think this is one of the things that started my morbid obsession with the Cold war and nuclear stuff.  I clearly remember sitting in Brighton reference library reading this when I was 15, annoyed I couldn’t take it home.  It’s full of useful advice if you should ever find yourself in the middle of a nuclear confrontation between super powers.  You can check out a pdf copy here.
