Day three-lake district zig zag

Can you spot the tent?

We left Bleaberry Tarn at nine and headed straight up Red Pike.

From Red Pike we walked east along the ridge to High Stile, Seat and Hay Stacks. The weather was the complete opposite of the previous days, with the sun shining down on us between the clouds.

We continued up a grassy slope towards Brendreth and got to the point where we could walk no further.

After leaving Hay Stacks, we stopped at Blackbeck Tarn to get some water for the next 24 hours. We wanted to get to the top of Brandreth, but the heat had got to us and we just didn’t have enough energy in our legs to continue. So we put our packs down, took our boots off, and enjoyed a rest in the sun. Our view gave us a constant reminder of the ground we still had to cover.
