Day Two-Lake district zig zag

Me at 6:57am

I fell asleep at five and woke just after seven, the wind was still blowing a gale.

After the windiest night I’ve ever spent in a tent, we both agreed it might be best to take it easier on day two. The weather forecast was bad meaning it wouldn’t have been safe to go where we’d planned to go. We spent ninety minutes walking down off the hills and into Buttermere where we treated ourselves to breakfast. The people that owned the cafe let us pitch our tent for a couple of hours so we could get some sleep before the climbing began later in the day.

We took the path along Buttermere Dubs, turned up just after Sourmilk Gill and started our 400m climb to Bleaberry Tarn where I’m writing this.
