Day One-Lake District Zig Zag

“I’m almost too tired to write. We walked 12km and climbed 1021m.”

Emily and I set off from the car in Seathwaite at about 3pm. I didn’t weigh our packs, but with four days of food, and 3l of water for the first night, we must have lugged about 15kg each up over 1000m and along 12km. We were cosy in our tent by eight and asleep by nine. That sleep was short lived, because we were both woken abruptly at 12 to massive gusts of wind which lasted all night. It was hard to sleep.
